Life with Me

Two Strangers Get Married

A few days ago while I was looking on Facebook I came across a post by a local radio station about something they planned and did on air. It was about how they had two strangers get married after the groom chose which women he wanted to marry. They had never seen each other and the first time they did get to meet was when the bride to be was walking down the aisle.

I didn’t listen to what happened on the radio and what lead up to the actual wedding but it all sounds a bit weird. To me marriage is a big deal and to not see the person before the wedding is a bit strange to me. I personally would want to get to know the person a bit better before I decided to spend the rest of my life with them.

The groom did look very happy when he first met his wife to be and I do hope that they can make their marriage a success. I have left the link below to the video of the wedding if you would like to have a watch.

  1. Hah, Kelli beat me to it! My wife and I love that program, such an odd thing to do though. If I remember correctly, just one of the couples were still together but not doing 100%.

What more can you expect… this program reveals how bad some people can really be. The dark side comes out.

      1. the program has vanished for now, oddly we saw evidence of a 1st season but never found it anywhere to watch the episodes. I assume there will be another season but since the concept is so far outside of reality, maybe there won’t be. Too radical for reality TV?? I say you have to be incredibly desperate to do something like this…

  2. I have two very good friends from India, both had pre-arranged marriages, been married over 30 years, had never met their groom til wedding day, one husband is a doctor the other a professor at U of A.

The one lady had 5000 guests at her wedding. In India, they have wedding hotels and parents of the bride pay for meals when guest arrive, next morning breakfast and then the wedding feast. I bet a lot of fathers pray to have sons. Imagine the cost of feeding 5000 guest 3 meals?

  3. Oy, I too am guilty of watching that show. It’s horrible but compelling all at the same time. Some of them really seem to try to make the marriage work but they only get 6 weeks to decide whether they’re going to stay married. Not nearly enough time and not to mention the pressure of being on camera most of the time.

  4. Thanks for sharing this story. I watched it. I doubt that they were very committed. However it probably has as much chance as many. Few people really know each other even after months of dating. Dating is so pretentious! Most anyone can put on a good front for a bit. Values and commitment are mostly learned through struggles.
