Life with Me, Monthly Goals

The Start Of Something New

It is the start of a new year and the time that people make New Year Resolutions. I haven’t really been the person to make definite resolutions at the start of each year but this year I decided to give it a go. I may not complete every goal I set but I am ok with that. I just need to give it a go. They also may change and adapt as the year goes on but this is just what I have come up with now.

2016 Goals

I was watching a video (or reading a blog post) a couple of weeks ago and the lady said that in 2016 she wanted to read 52 books. With me being a book lover it quickly caught my attention and I knew that it was something I wanted to try. I used to read so much when I was younger sometimes spending the whole day reading and doing nothing else. As I got older and sadly as social media became more popular and accessible I slowly started reading less and less. I still love books and have so many that I want to read so I thought this challenge/ goal would be good to get me reading more.

Go to a cafe alone

When I was away on holiday back in November I often would go to a cafe and just sit there and rest for a while. I was by myself so I found reading a great thing to do and I really enjoyed those times. When I got back home I didn’t carry on with it and it is something I miss. While I already do spend a lot of time on my own it can be nice to get out and be around other people. Even if you aren’t talking to them and reading there is still something going on around you. This goal will also go hand in hand with me wanting to read more.

Change up my look

This year I want to go blonde. I have already started by getting a full head of foils but I want to go even lighter. It is something I have been wanting to do for a while and I am excited for it to happen. I also want to dress up my outfits a bit more and look more put together. I often wear jeans and a tshirt but I think if I add a nice necklace or something to my outfit it will help me look and feel a bit more put together. I often look at outfit photos and admire the clothes and how they look and I want to put a little more thought into what I wear.

Travel

Last year I really caught the travel bug. At the start of the year I was planning a trip with a friend and while it didn’t end up happening I hope this year it might.

Be active

I want to be more active this year. It is a tough area because with a chronic illness I am not sure what will be manageable or what will be too much. I am thinking of going to the pool and walking up and down and maybe a little swimming. It will be nice especially in the summer while it is warmer and I am hoping to go along with mum.

Those are what I have set for this year. More might be added or changed but I think it is a good start. There will obviously be other things that I will try to work on or improve but some are just things we do on a daily basis without thinking about too much. The one I am most excited about is reading 52 books. I know it will be a challenge but I hope I am able to achieve it.

I would love to know if you are setting any goals for this year.

I hope you all have a good week.

Love, Me

  1. I use to make resolutions…however, now I like to refer to them as gentle changes and I love myself into them, it feels and seems the softer more gentler way to treat myself…have a very blessed new year!!!!!!

  2. Thank you for inspiring me to look at some goals. Especially the reading and cafe one. I wouldn’t manage 52 but might aim for 12. Going to spend time tomorrow putting some thought into this. Look forward to hearing about your progress.

  3. Great goals! I think going to a café alone is a great way to get away from those ‘home distractions’ (as long as you don’t run in to a ton of folks you know!) I know teachers who do all their grading in Starbucks because the home-front isn’t there to call them away… My goal is to
really organize and get things done! I hope we are both successful beyond our dreaming! Happy 2016–
